DETOXIFY YOURSELF!

Detox Smoothies aren't only good for weight loss, they also help flush your system and cleanse it of months (or even years) worth of toxins that have built up inside your body. Detox Smoothies have various functions to help with our overall health: they help improve digestion & get rid of bloating, clear healthy & growing skin, increase energy levels, and cleanse & revitalize our bodies. This, in turn, leads to a better functioning body, a digestive system that can absorb more nutrients and most importantly, long lasting results.

Why is blending your fruits and vegetables better than eating them whole?

Digestion takes a lot of energy from the body. Not sold on the idea that digestion take energy from us? Think back to the last time you ate a huge meal and spent the following hour stumped in a food coma. I bet you certainly didn't feel like embarking on a 2 mile run immediately after, did you?

During the detox, the idea is to give your digestive system a rest, so it can put more energy into cleansing itself of toxins and healing the body. For this reason, you should blend the ingredients together rather than eat them whole, as it is easier for your body to digest this way.

How to prepare?

1. Gather ingredients for the recipe

These ingredients can be any of your choices of fruits and/or vegetable - keep in mind not all fruits and vegetables are good for you. Click here to read the list of fruits/vegetables that are good, not so good, and not good at all.

2. Wash and chop up the ingredients.

3. Place into freezer bags & label the day. For the easiest blend, we recommend freezing the fruit in a separate bag from the vegetables. While they are stored in the freezer they will last several weeks.

4. In the morning, empty the contents of that days bag into the blender (or defrost in fridge overnight) and blend with liquid for that recipe. Milk and Water aren't always good for all types of smoothies.

5. Blend until smooth and divide evenly into three jars/bottles. Store in fridge and consume for breakfast, lunch, and/or dinner. As long as the smoothies are kept in an airtight bottle or jar and refrigerated, they last fine for 24 hours.
